Sonora Mule Deer Territory
Our 250,000 acres of lush desert habitat sits in the northwest portion of Sonora. Proper management and minimal hunting pressure make for an exciting Mule Deer. What truly makes an area like this unique is a natural mix of hills and desert flats, giving us the ability to get a bird's eye view of the terrain these Mule Deer call home. We limit the number of hunters each season to a number we feel the area can more than withstand. Making for quality hunting in the Sonora area with little pressure and big trophy Mule Deer.
Hunting Mule Deer in Sonora is no easy task. Your hunting days will consist of glassing and high racking. Hours on the hillside and driving the flats have proven to be the most successful methods when hunting the big desert Mule Deer or Sonora. A long-range rifle and a hunter capable of accurately shooting placement are considered huge assets. When a large buck is spotted, your time can be limited. Sometimes a brief window of opportunity can present itself, requiring the hunter to be ready for a quick and quite often a long shot.
Pick a number between 1 and a million. It's 200", isn't it? Do we ever harvest deer that size? The answer is rarely; 200" is ever so often a number abused and overused with Mule Deer hunters. Those caliber deer are difficult to find anywhere in the world; the all-time B&C is 190" for a reason. Every hunter should expect a shot opportunity at a mature Mule Deer 170"+ during their hunt with us.
All flights will need to be booked with Hermosillo, Mexico, as your final destination. Due to the laws pertaining to firearms in Mexico, hunters bringing their rifles will need to fly directly from Phoenix to Hermosillo with no connections anywhere in Mexico. Hermosillo is where your rifle permit will be located upon entry into the country. Upon your arrival you will need to check your rifle, we handle all gun permits prior to your arrival along with notifying Mexico customs of your necessary permits. Once you've cleared security a TKO employee will meet with you, the time of arrival will determine whether you depart for camp immediately or commence first thing the following morning.
All of our Sonora mule deer hunts are a minimum of 7 full hunting days. Longer trips for the mule deer enthusiasts/freaks can be booked upon request. Clients can expect to fly into Hermosillo Airport the day before the hunt and depart the day after the hunt ends.
